eFOBsync network access: addresses, ports, and proxy

Network connections

The table below lists connections made by eFOBsync and browser connections used for setup, support, and downloading updates. eFOBsync or the user's browser initiates each connection to the listed service. You do not need to open inbound Internet ports on the computer running eFOBsync.

Proxy

eFOBsync does not have its own field for entering a proxy address. Its HTTP requests use the .NET default proxy configuration. On Windows, .NET reads proxy environment variables or, if they are not set, the user's proxy settings. Supported variables include HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY, ALL_PROXY, and NO_PROXY. See the .NET documentation for details.

The .NET default proxy configuration applies to both eFOB API connections and uploads to Azure Blob Storage. The proxy must allow HTTPS connections to both services and PUT requests to the storage endpoint. Exceptions set in NO_PROXY can cause requests to the specified hosts to bypass the proxy.

Contact eFOB support to configure the proxy connection. Settings apply to the Windows account running eFOBsync. After setup, verify sign-in and a full synchronization on that account, including the storage upload. A proxy does not replace access rules for the local database.
